I have posted similar reviews for other of this series,...The Explode the Code series is great. I have four children and they all seem to enjoy working through this series. I am seeing a benefit in their reading, spelling and writing skills. My kids regularly laugh and share with each other the funny little mistakes and stories from this series as they complete assignments.To be honest, any phonics program that my kids will do happily each day for YEARS without crying, complaining or whining is a major winner.I am finding that if I start the kids in book 1 in first grade, and take our time, that we come to this book near the beginning of third grade. These are a great independent learning tool.

I use this series for both of my kids (6 & 8). Sadly it stops at EtC 8, but we have been very happy with the process the series takes the kids through. My daughter has dyslexia and it was a bit rough in the beginning, but have seen great strides as we are now n EtC 2.5. There are 1/2 books between the main books to help with transitions if necessary. My son didn't need them, but my daughter did. Great to have the choice so there is no unnecessary boredom or if needing an extra stepping stone.

Explode the Code is a wonderful series of phonics books that supplement your child's reading. I have been homeschooling my kids with them for 3 years now. The lessons are simple and fun. The kids really get a kick out of the funny pictures and silly sentences. This is one curriculum your kids won't moan and groan over doing. And the price can't be beat!

There is nothing better or simpler for teaching phonics! If you have a tactile kinesthetic learner, you may want to add some other things like phonics tiles or magnetic letters, even flashcards. I have used other methods. Frontline Phonics and Explode the Code are the best, in my opinion, for homeschoolers.

Absolute waste of money. I initially bought this book due to 'raving' reviews (mainly across the pond in the US) and I had better expectations for them. once I actually received the books I was bitterly disappointed. As a home schooling mother who teaches Language, I would advise anyone to invest their time and money on the Apples and Pears books by Sound foundations. Its a UK company, and books can be purchased on-line.

Great remedial program. Wish all schools taught phonics lessons

This was new as advertised and quick shipping.

I recommend this book to any homeschooling family. This book teaches vocabulary and spelling without the children even realizing it. My second grader truly loves it and rather do it first thing in the morning above all else. Buy it!

Excellent guide for those who are into nature. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it's not the greatest source for the description of the cities. I actually bought Steve Rick's book that was also excellent but very limited to the big cities. So the combo was excellent, used both books. You could get by with just this one, especially if you are going into woods and lake areas mostly.

I traveled to Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku this summer and kept this book with me along the way. It's got decent maps and highlights for major cities. I wish the index was slightly more thorough to make finding specific places on the fly a bit easier. The book is probably best read for planning a trip while at a desk, not always so on the go. There were a few keys details that would have been helpful to know, like a map of the airport (to get to the buses), and a few tips about the long distance buses. For example, it took me awhile to figure out that the long distance bus stalls were underground.It's not a bad book to have on hand if you are in a major city with no particular plans for the day. Browse, pick something, and go for it.

Maps hard to follow if not familiar with the country. Difficult to know where you are if there's no familiar place of reference. But great insights into places of interest. Would definitely recommend to new travellers looking for interesting destinations.

I’ve been debating getting oracle cards with crystals being the focus for a while but from the options available, nothing really called to me. Then I came across the preorder for these about a week before they came out and felt drawn to them immediately. I received the cards yesterday and I loved them right away. I think the images are beautifully simple and powerful on the white background and it really allows you to tune into the energy of the crystal itself. The other side of the card is awesome! Love the bits of information it gives about each crystal: what it is, who needs it, where to put it and when to use it. There is also like a brief affirmation at the bottom. And the words are set against different bright colors. They’re like really pretty flash cards! Great for anyone just learning about crystals, but not just beginners either. There were a few crystals featured I’d never heard of! I also tested it out as an oracle and it can also be used that way. The message I received was right on point and really resonated. For the technical stuff: the cards come in a beautiful sturdy box with a nice matte finish and it comes with a small booklet with how to use the crystals, how to meditate with them, using it as an oracle, etc. Buy this deck! It’s beautiful, comes with a lot of cards, and would be a great tool for beginners and seasoned crystal enthusiasts alike. Happy with my purchase!

SO excited about this deck! I have been obsessed with the Stone app for all the witty descriptions of the stones and the minimalistic, high definition, glowing white background of the photos (on the app and for the deck). Cards and box have that soft, velvety feel to them. Cards are on the thinner side compared to some other decks, but not flimsy or easily bent/torn at all. Edging is beautiful; no small tears or danger of peeling like you see on some decks out there. Images on cards are high quality and beautifully photographed (shout out to the photographer, Jason Wyche). I love the easy to store box with the drawer-design to slide in and out of the cover box.ONLY downside was the box was shipped without any outer plastic wrapping or protective packaging (inside a bubble wrap envelope but had plenty of room to slide and bump around), and the box is primarily white/off-white, so the box came dingy/dirty and knocked around a bit (this is due to whoever was in charge of shipping, so I didn't want to knock any stars off the product itself).All in all, super psyched about this deck and completely satisfied! I so wanted to love this deck - but I can't even shuffle these cards, let alone pull a "single" card from the top of the deck. They do not slide at all and they are so sticky that's its very difficult to separate them at all. I can't believe all of the other 5 star reviews and not one mentioned this problem. The description on the back of the card is just "okay". Nothing to swoon over. I am a Certified Crystal Healer and I'm not impressed.

I was very excited to get this deck, and it is a lovely deck with great information. I was fairly disappointed in the pictures, many didn’t look like what you would think of when thinking of these stones. Multiple look exactly the same. It’s also a very long deck and difficult to shuffle. The idea is wonderful though and I will use them!

Bought this product as a Christmas gift for my best friend. She got into crystals this past year and I figured these would be wonderful for her. Even if she doesn’t use the information on them, the artwork is amazing! It’s a win-win! (It’s killing me to not open the package and go through them myself!)

I love the deck; but it is hard to pull cards due to the finish of the deck. The cards clump together in the shuffling process making it difficult to pick a card.

The card deck format makes these crystals versatile to use. They’re also super well-designed and the descriptions are fun/funny to read and share. You can create sub-decks for your own use or leave individual cards passive-aggressively on the desks of your coworkers. Lol. Highly recommend!

I love the pictures of the crystals on the front and the color-coded backs of the cards. Each one has an extensive (and alternative) explanation of the crystal. I like that it adds things that about the stones that I hadn't read online yet. Perfect for the beginner who wants to have an easy guide to all crystals.

I was introduced to this book when i was 14 or 15 (i won't mention how many years ago, lets say the book was very new). I had copied down a few of the poems in my journal. I loved the cadence and the structure of her verses... got divorced after 2 decades recently and found that notebook and still loved the poetry even tho i'm not what anyone would consider a Danielle Steele fan.... I googled a couple of lines and nothing would come up... Couldn't find a site that reprinted these anywhere so i went to amazon and got the hardcover for just a few bucks... In love with Love:Poems still.... recommended highly.

Purchased all the Danielle Steele books for my grandmother, this one included. She's been collecting them all in hardcover for years and also loves the children's books. She was delighted to receive this one in the mail, I had it shipped straight to her!

Bought a bunch of these Danielle Steel books for my 94 year old aunt on here. She only reads DS. Thanks for having them. They are hard to find where I live and she has about 10 more to read and she will have read every single book of DS. Thanks :)

I bought 2 books. One had a diagonal fold on the top cover of the book 3/4 of an inch from the top, the other had a small tear along the top edge of the binding. Although the physical condition of the books seemed like they had been browsed at a bookstore, the book is a delight to read. It brings back old memories of being in love, whether it be passionate love, unrequited love, or breaking someone else's heart. The poems about love are somethings people can relate to. It will make you laugh even when you're all alone in a room and evoke past emotions and memories. I gave the other book as a gift to my friend and she immediately loved it!

A friend had misplaced her copy of this book and had exhausted her search to replace it. I checked here and on amazon. I surprised her with a new copy. Very affordable here.

Although I am a big fan of Danielle Steel and her novels and am not a beg fan of poems. I purchased this mainly to complete my collect of Danielle Steel Books. I really hate having to give it this score but it is just a personal preference not a professional one.

This was the only book my friend was missing to complete her set of hard back Steele books. It was such a joy finding it and giving it to her. She'd been having a rough time and we both cried.

I used this book on a recent Galapagos trip. I really liked that the book had descriptions of each island so we knew what to expect before disembarking. Also, it has chapters by type of wildlife so it was easy to look up a particular reptile, fish, mammal or plant. The background on the history was also quite informative, and the book was a great supplement to the talks given by the naturalists. The photographs were very helpful as well. While on the trip, others kept borrowing my book!

I ordered the book and read it before I went to the Galapagos. It gave good descriptions of the different islands and different zones on the islands. Animal descriptions and pictures were very helpful.

Having visited the Galápagos and planning my return, I can say this introductory booklet (140 pages) is a reliable for people who want an overall idea of the ecology and want to identify some of the most prominent wildlife they are likely to encounter - it is easy to understand, has good information, decent photos of the main players and illustations of the commonest landing sites. For you, this booklet rates three stars for clarity, comprehension level and lightness in your backpack, but it fails next to Andy Swash and Rob Still's more comprehensive and better illustrated "Birds, Mammals and Reptiles of the Galápagos Island".For those who want a more in depth knowledge of the Galápagos and their wildlife, or are traveling to some of the more remote sites or the northernmost islands: you will feel short-changed and wish you had purchased more comprehensive guide(s), so you can identify all the critters you will possibly observe and learn much more about their habitats and behaviors, climate and cvlimate zones, etc. For those travelers (birders, nature buffs, divers, etc.), this booklet rates a generous three stars for its relatively topical treatments.Choose your guidebooks according to your interests and skills. And go there, walk softly and leave nothing. Visiting should have as little impact as possible, and in my opinion when done properly does help protect these wonderful islands of biological diversity from rampant pirate fishing, oil spills and short-sighted political stewardship. Our "tangibilitized" interest is the only one the Ecuadorian government- at least up until now- has responded to.

This is a fine introduction to the wildlife on the Galapgos islands. It is not too technical, but gives the reader a good idea of what to expect & what's unique to the islands. The color photos are all striking. The section on the landing and visitor areas is illustrated with good detailed maps. I have not been there yet to verify the accuracy of the maps, but I'm confident they are good in keeeping with the quality of the book.

This book is really great to have and a handy size to take along with you while on land. The pictures are a help in identifying the birds, fish and mammals. And there is an interesting historical overview of the Islands.

Got it for an uncoming trip...very exciting. Won't know if it's really valuable until I get there, hence only 4 stars.

Christmas gift for son

The best part of this book is the last section which tells you what wildlife you see on each island. This can help you decide which tour to take when you visit. It even describes the landings on each island. We chose the southern route so we could see the waved albatross. Beautiful photos too! I am definitely carrying this book with me during my visit!
