My daughter loves this book!I'm trying to build her a collection of books for little black girls because representation matters. :)

I started looking for more black girl magic books for my daughter and I got this one for her for Christmas. She loves this one just as much as her other Kadir Nelson illustrated books. Since she loves dance, this was a great book for her. She's taller than most of the girls in her dance class and gymnastics just like the character.

I got this for my 2 year old both because I am always on the hunt for books with minorities in them and because we plan to put her in dance eventually. This book is still a little long for her attention span, but I really like it. Some of the dialogue is a bit contrived, but the story and the message are both great (confidence, acceptance, etc.). I think my daughter will like this book more and more as she gets older, and I look forward to reading it to her many more times.

I love this book. The first thing my three-year-old said was "look mom! She has a brown skin just like me!" Even better, the little girl in the book is taller than everyone and has big feet just like my baby.

My 6.5 year old dancer loves this! It's sweet, funny and encouraging for our little aspiring performers. The young protagonist is teased for being tall but she works hard and her talent is recognized. The book is about feeling different and discriminated against but it's not about racism. The main and peripheral characters are people of color, however, and In this sense, especially with the lovely illustrations by Kadir Nelson, the book is anti-racist and affirming of African-American kids, families and community.

I ordered this book again only to realize that I already have it. My little one has a lot of books so when I gave it to her she said she already had it and After I peered through the pages she certainly did. My daughter loves this book and I would definitely recommend it. A really good read!

This is the cutest story ever! Any family or culture can relate to its story morale but it is especially delightful for an African American family who enjoy the arts. My daughter just started ballet lessons, so I got her some stories about ballet. This one is our favorite. My five year old and 11 year old girls both enjoyed it. The story is perfect from building self esteem, solving sibling conflict and teaching persistence. Debbie Allen has great story telling abilities (loved all the characters) and the illustrator did a great job portraying black beauty and I was impressed with the California landscape (e.g. Coolies Caribbean restaurant).

Bought this for my 6 year old daughter. She loves the story. She loved the main character because she looks like her and because they both love dancing. We highly recommend this book.

This is at least second time that I've read The Color of Magic. I am a die-hard Terry Pratchett and I absolutely love the Discworld. While I find this first book in the series somewhat less developed than the later books, it's still a great read. I can really see how far PTerry developed both the world and the characters when I compare this book with the later ones. I understand that most people don't actually start with this first book, but it really is a great jumping in point because the stories and the characters only get better with each successive novel. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves fantasy and humor. You can't beat PTerry's wisdom or wit.

Wow. I don't know how it is I've never read a novel of the Discworld before, but I am tremendously grateful to have rectified this oversight.A failed wizard. A tourist from an unknown place. Semi-sentient luggage. A somewhat easily thwarted Death. These are the characters we follow across a world that ranges from sort of traditional fantasy to science fantasy. In the course of this tale, they will encounter great heroes, sometimes misunderstood villains, locales that are bigger on the inside than the outside and strange gods that seem to have only moderately more understanding of things than our protagonists.His comedic presentation is undeniable. The scope of his creativity is as impressive as it is daunting and his perspective is unique and utterly refreshing. Dragons as creatures of pure creation, powered by imagination and an active mind? Death (as a conscious, if somewhat imperfect entity) that becomes petty when unable to collect its due, so instead it collects the life of a nearby cat (leaving it with the magic eight instead of the normal nine lives)? The fact that, on occasion, falling from great heights permits trans-dimensional travel? Genius.Pratchett's prose is eminently accessible, which makes this book not only a breeze to read but rather difficult to put down. He may not have the sheer command of language that Vance and Leiber did, but he is every bit their equal in terms of sheer imaginative prowess, wit and tale-telling. Truly, one of the titans of fantasy and an incredible storyteller.TLDR: A must read for any fan of humorous, ingenious and surreal fantasy. No wonder, then, that the Disc gods spend more time in bickering than in omnicognizance."

This is the first book in the Discworld series, but my 6th Discworld book that I’ve read. I started with the Tiffany Aching series (which was a great introduction to Discworld!), and thought I’d go back and start at the beginning.I really loved the Tiffany Aching series, but struggled to get immersed in this book. I found I wasn’t nearly attached to any of the characters in this book compared to Wee Free Men where I was immediately invested in Tiffany, her brother, and all the Nac Mac Feegles. The one “character” in Color of Magic that I somewhat cared about was Twoflower’s Luggage. I think what made this challenging to get in to the book was the main storyline was interrupted with snippits of “gods” controlling movement or position of the characters, and I still don’t know what that was about.I loved all the descriptions of Great A’Tuin, the giant turtle on which the four elephants that hold up Discworld are standing on. There’s a lot of great stuff in this book, I just found a lot of plot not very interesting.I am going to keep reading Discworld, because I believe there are more Discworld books out there that I will really love. I am so glad I didn’t start with this one, because there’s no way I would have continued the series based on this book. I love Pratchett’s later writing style and have high hopes for other Discworld books, especially the Witches series.

I waited far, far too long to start reading this series, but now that I've started, I'm never going to be able to stop. Pratchett earns his title of one of the best fantasy writers in existence, combining large scale, intricate world building with hilarious prose.The story starts off with telling us what's so special about Discworld. Disworld is actually a flat plan, a 'disc', if you will, resting on the back of four giant elephants, which are themselves standing on the shell of an even more giant turtle crawling through space. Things only get more ridiculous from there. Pratchett introduces us to two great characters. The first, Rincewind, is a washed out drop out of the local wizard college, who a knack for both languages and finding his way to trouble. The second, Twoflower, is a foreigner bored with his life as an insurance salesman, who comes to Rincewinds city as tourist looking for adventure, and willing to pay for it handsomely. Together, the two traipse across the Disc on all sorts of wacky adventures.I want to compare Pratchetts writing to Douglas Adams, or even Kurt Vonnegut, but that wouldn't be accurate. Those authors are massively cynical, and while Pratchett can do satire, his humor is much more kind-hearted. You really just need to read the book for yourself to see what I mean.

So, every time i look at this book it reminds me of one of the most craziest/wonderful day of my life.. The day before my Ap world exam, there was this concert, and I had already bought my ticket online like two months ago. I really didn't want to miss the concert because i was obsessed with the boy band... so What i did was, I took this review book, waited outside the line for almost two hours, and reviewed most of the thing from this book with my friends.. People around us, were looking at us like if we were crazy, but what ever.. The next day, My friends and I went to take our Ap exam, and it wasn't that bad.. The score came in July.. Hey, all my friends and I got a 4.. Hahaha.. Plus nobody in my school really cared about Ap World, because they thought the Ap exam would be easy, but turned out this year score was horrible... Also my friends and I, we started to review this book a week before the exam, (which is totally bad I know) but hey got 4.. People buying this book, review ahead of time and get a five..

I teach this course. I find this review book to have a little bit of everything including a short amount of content review and a good amount of skill practice. Many review books have an emphasis but this one is well-rounded and an easy read.

The problem is that there isn't a SOLID AP review book out there for AP students / students who want to challenge the AP test can buy.I personally recommend the McGraw-Hill AP Achiever prep by Dixie Grupe and Sigrid Reynolds, which accompanies the McGraw-Hill textbook.Having said that, this book served one of my last year's students well. Granted, this student is very bright, updated with current events better than most teachers, and is incredibly driven. However, he swore that with the honors world history class he was taking with me along with this workbook, he was able to obtain that coveted 5 score without extraneously studying. Maybe the guy was bragging, but that's what he SAID.I give this book 2.5 stars for the following reasons:What this book DOES give that is outstanding is a timeline of all major events within a unit, also possible continuity and change essay prompts, and key comparison prompts that I'm not seeing from any other review book, and I own 9 of them for this class from different publishers.In a pinch, this review book will do, if you have a pretty solid grip on world history already, and have the self-discipline to work hard. =) Whatever you do, don't get the Cliff's or Barron's prep book for this AP course. My students say they're AWFUL.

I was hoping for something more than this was willing to offerThe ideal book on world history for me would be a section giving a long summary of everything that happened, and then went in to fill in the missing information, not something that does what the book does and goes one era at a time. But that's just me. Everyone else I saw with this liked it, so if you want something that gives extra information in a slightly easier to read way, go ahead.

This book was extremely helpful in achieving a good grade on the AP exam! However, make sure your child doesn't solely spend all his studying time on this book. Class attendance and notes are crucial to also getting a good grade!

The format of this study guide is similar to other preparatory materials on the market today. This one, as well as the AP Literature and U.S. Government versions include detailed reviews and practice tests with explanations. In general, they are written well. Also as a previous reviewer noted, the included summary charts are an effective way to organize information for the essay sections.

Based on my daughter's recent experience and evaluation, 5 Steps to a 5 is not her first choice. She also had a copy of the Princeton Review AP World History review book and considered that to contain the more detailed information she needed to review for the AP World History test.

This is the book my daughter's AP World History teacher uses frequently in class. My daughter is finding it helpful for studying for classroom tests. She will also be using it to study for the AP test. It includes sample tests with an answer key explaining why the answers are correct (there is often 2 correct answers for these questions, but one will be MORE correct). There are sample essay questions and essays as well.

This is a wonderfully useful collection of the basic theological works of Martin Luther. If you are studying Luther, this is truly essential. I was especially pleased to find Luther's Disputation Against Scholastic Theology, which came out in September 1517. (It has been called "Luther's Forgotten 97 Theses.") The importance of that particular work is that you can see already the man who would take on Erasmus in the Bondage of the Will, and the Roman Catholic Church on indulgences as well as standing firmly at Worms saying, "Here I stand."This is well worth having if you are a pastor, and not even a Lutheran one!

This was used as a class text the problem was it did not list page numbers (some kindle versions do) my professor was kind enough to look at the table of contents and let me know what I should be reading. The portability of the text was wonderful as was the ability to highlight important passages.

There is not enough reading of primary sources, and this is one worth reading if you want to understand Luther.

Nice selection, useful for my classes at an international seminary where I don't have the complete works available.. I find the introductory statements useful for my understanding.

Best book on Luther in years. Could not put it down. Read again, it was so interesting. Highly recommend.

This needs to be in your theological library. Lull's collection of Luther's works is invaluable to the theological student/pastor or layperson. It is easy to navigate and contains the great highlights that you need.

Came in very nice clear wrapping, great condition and paper quality!

It gave great insight into Martin Luther's thoughts.
