KIM KRANS is an artist and illustrator who studied at Cooper Union in New York City. In addition to The Wild Unknown Tarot, The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit, and The Wild Unknown Journal, she is the author of several children’s book, including Hello Sacred Life and ABC Dream. She lives on the west coast where she teaches meditation, makes art, writes, and catches waves.

I'm not an artist in a typical sense, but this book was so welcoming, encouraging, inspiring, and unlike anything I've ever seen before, I was inspired to unlock my creativity, and I'm so glad I did. I now have a nightly, meditative collage and painting practice that has given me great peace and opened my mind. This book is truly unlike anything out there. Intellectual art therapy on the highest plane.
The extent of my artistic expression thus far has been gel pens and adult coloring books. So I got this to expand and explore my creative side, and overcome the fear and frustration of being "so bad at art." I can't say enough about how wonderful this journal is, for so many reasons. It would make a great gift for anyone in your life, perhaps even to share the challenge with a friend or loved one and "compare notes." One for you, one for them and see what you create together! Truly a magical journal, well made, beautiful art and starter examples, really makes you feel a part of the creative process with the author (part of her intention in creating it.)
This is a fun book to play around with and get ideas flowing. I should note that the paper is not strong enough to withstand inks, alcohol markers, watercolor paints, permanent markers, and layering of water based markers.
I have the Wild Unknown tarot deck and really love the colors and art of the deck. What a nice surprise to find this journal by the same artist! What I love about this journal is that it has just the right amount of creative direction, inspiration, and encouragement for you to find your own voice and explore your own artistic vision. Whether you are into drawing, writing, doodling, or whatever you like, you can explore it on the pages of this journal by using the prompts and inspiration to embellish the beginnings of the designs, or make up your own. I like to carry a small box of colored pens in my bag with the journal so I can dive into the pages whenever creativity strikes. I love how it's simple and not at all intimidating to play with color, shapes, designs within the pages.
I just received my book and I'm happy with my purchase. I want to open up my creative spark and this book will help me do just that.
Not as amazing as I was hoping for
This journal can be used alone or with either TWU decks. I like using the tarot deck in conjunction with the writing prompts. So far I’ve really enjoyed it.
Sophisticated and inspiring. A provocative stimulus allowing the mind to go and play. Treat yourself or honor a friend.
