I was really disappointed in the series when they killed of Sara. What many kids loved about SHS was that it is set in an idealised cartoon universe, where everything worked out for nice people in the end. Killing off one of our favourite character was just too dark for the series. I just hope the series didn't take this direction just so that it would support the plot of this book.I realise that the book was meant to be a little more "grown up" than the game but then there are plenty of books in that category. I think the author didn't realise the ingredients that made SHS a success. It might be cheesy, it might be cliched, but we loved it. I suppose what I really wanted, was more of the same, i.e. SHS game in book form, while the author wanted to write a proper book, with SHS as the backdrop. In that sense, I think SHS fans might be disappointed.As for the book itself, it's totally fine as a book for tweens and young teens. It's got all the elements of what makes a good book. In conclusion, this is a pretty good book, but unfortunately, doesn't help SHS fans reminisce.
This is a very good book, guide for an incoming high school student. I gave this as a gift to a friend's daughter. She is about to enter a very competitive school and go through life-changes, cultural changes and anxiety about academic performance. The book does a good job outlining personality, individuality and the social pressures and awkwardness of the high school years. It paves a way to "take things in stride" and understand the world of high school challenges. I asked the young student about her reaction to the book. She smiled and said she appreciated the story, information and advice.

This book is very detailed. It was worth the wait when I pre-ordered it. It's just an amazing, loving, sad moments, caring book. It's worth to buy it, I only finished it one whole day, I was just reading and reading because it was like, "ohhhhhhhhh woah, I wonder what happens next," or "nooooooooooooooooooooo," or "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhh." lolAnd if you want to know more about all the characters that were in this book, then go to the app store of your ipod and purchase Surviving HS for free(with ad). And every week there's free episodes :)
I loved this book and can't believe that the middle school I work does not have it in their library yet? What is with that?
Because I'm such a fan of the app, and because I know the story so well it was just an addictive book that is hard to put down. You just want to root for Emily thoughout the whole book. Even if not a fan of the series, its a fun entertaining read with a great message. Five stars, well done.
Very lovely read and particularly good if you play the game as well. Doesn't take too much to get through and leaves you feeling pretty chuffed for Emily (the main character) in the end.Looking forward to the next installment!
